Social Netball
There are a number of social netball leagues in the Tyne and Wear county area for players who want an occasional match or don’t have time to be committed to a formal Netball Club. There are leagues based at Kenton School and Excelsior Academy in Newcastle on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and Tyne Met College on Thursday evenings. These run throughout the year (Winter/Spring/Summer). Matches during winter are evenings indoors. Summer matches are evenings outdoors.
Fees are per match and include court and umpire costs. Umpires are provided by the organisers. Matches are 45 minutes long (4 quarters).
The Leagues have a mix of divisions and levels. Players in Division 1 must be England Netball members.
The other divisions are more social and very flexible. These are ideal for groups of friends or work mates, teams wanting additional match play, clubs with new players, back to netballers or total beginners who need an entry into the sport. As entry is very flexible there is space for teams from established clubs who find they have too many players and need additional matches. All ages and abilities (14 years plus) are welcome.
