| It is with deep sadness that England Netball confirms the passing of Margaret Cassidy. An England Netball honorary life member, Margaret died peacefully on the morning of Friday 8th August at the age of 100. Margaret was the inaugural International Netball’s President when the first World Championships were held here on our soil in Eastbourne in 1963. She held the volunteer offices of Vice President of England Netball from 1963 – 1969 and then became President from 1969 – 1975 and was awarded the OBE in 1973 for services to netball. In 2002 she was inducted into the England Netball Hall of Fame. Everybody at England Netball wish to extend our condolences; our thoughts are with Margaret's family and friends at this sad time. |
