Clarification of Injury Time procedures in T&W League for Umpires, Coaches and Players
If a player sustains an injury during a match the relevant player or if the player is incapacitated then a member of the team must ask the umpire to stop the match. Either umpire may be asked to hold time regardless of where the ball is at that time. It is fine for an umpire to briefly hold the match in order to ensure a player is okay, perhaps after they have been knocked over by an opponent. In these circumstances the player who was injured does not have to leave the court. Scenario:
Blue GS runs off the Goal Line, behind the post to gain a better position, and retakes a position on the court back in the Goal Circle. The GK follows the GS (taking the exact same route!) and once back on court the GK retakes her position to mark the GS. Answer: Yes the GK is permitted to leave the court to re-take a better position as per rule 8.3.2 (ii) as is the privilege for any player on court. If the GK attempted to defend the GS while out of court this would need penalising as per rule 11.3.2 (i) and/or 11.2 (ii) |
