The Tournament to determine the qualifiers from the north of the region for the North East Junior Regional League took place on Saturday at Blue Flames. Teams from Northumberland and Tyne and Wear County Associations fought it out in the Under 14 and Under 16 age groups to determine who would win the four places available.

The Under 16 section was won by Riverside 2 who won all 5 of their matches and scored 77 goals. Novos came a close second losing only one of their matches and scoring 82 goals in the process. Seatonians came third and Ponteland fourth. These four teams now qualify for the Under 16 Regional League. Congratulations also go to Riverside 1 and Morpeth who finished 5th and 6th respectively and contributed greatly to an excellent morning’s netball.

The Under 14 section was won by Seatonians 1 but it came down to the smallest of margins. Seatonians 1 and Riverside 1 finished with the same number of points after drawing when they played against each other. The final goal averages were 2.385 and 2.318 – a winning margin of 0.067! Gateshead Stadium finished third and Ponteland fourth. These four teams now qualify for the Under 14 Regional League. Congratulations also go to the Riverside 2 and Seatonians 2 teams who finished 5th and 6th respectively.

Thanks are due to all the coaches, umpires and officials who made the event possible and the players for taking part so enthusiastically and sportingly. An enjoyable event for everyone involved.
