Umpiring Seminar 2017

17/7/2017

The Tyne and Wear Umpiring Seminars for this season will take place on Thursday 7th September and Wednesday 13th September.  They will both be at Blue Flames.  Starting time is 6.45 pm.  These are the only two planned dates for the umpiring seminars this year so all umpires must attend one of these seminars or they will not be eligible to umpire in the Winter Season County League.

ANYONE is welcome to attend the Seminar regardless of whether they umpire, coach or just play.  Improving everyone’s knowledge of the rules of the game can only help to improve the quality of netball on the court.  The seminars will cover the rules of the game and also clarify some local league rules which have raised issues over the winter season.  Please note the following:
  1. All Umpires planning to officiate in T&W County Leagues must attend a seminar each season to ensure that they are continuing to develop and perform at the level expected and also to provide support and help for them.  They must also pass the beep test to the level appropriate to their umpiring.  It will be possible to take the beep test on the night before the start of the seminar.
  2. Trainee umpires who are planning to umpire in the league with a mentor must also attend.  There will also be the opportunity to take the C Award written test on the night – this will probably be after the seminar.
  3. Umpires should bring along their rules book, a pen and paper but they won’t need their whistles!
  4. Clubs who do not have an active Umpire within their ranks are expected to send a representative who can take information and knowledge back into their clubs.
  5. Coaches may also attend so they can hear first hand, the guidance on umpiring which is being communicated.
If you have any specific queries which you would like discussed on the night (these can be concerned with the rules of the game or county league rules) please email them to the League Secretary at [email protected].
